Psychodynamic Counsellor - Children, Young People and Adults

Clare is a psychodynamic counsellor who works with pre-teen children, teenagers and
adults. She offers open-ended counselling sessions either in-person or online.

Clare provides a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space for clients to bring whatever
thoughts and feelings are troubling them.

Clare has over 25 years experience supporting children, young people and families, working
in various settings including schools, colleges, universities and youth centres. She decided
to train as a counsellor later in her career after realising the importance of the counselling
process when people feel stuck, unseen and isolated.

Clare has spent the last four years working as a counsellor at a charity supporting children,
young people and their parents/carers facing various challenges. Her experience includes
working with clients who have encountered loss, abuse, friendship and relationship issues,
identity struggles, loneliness, stress, anxiety, depression and trauma.

Alongside her work with young people Clare is happy to support adult clients allowing them
the space in counselling to begin to understand their own emotional worlds and needs. She
has a particular interest in family dynamics, step and blended families and how caring for
others impacts our own mental health.

Clare uses mainly talking and listening therapy but where clients have trouble putting
thoughts and feelings into words she will offer the use of art and craft materials. This can be
helpful for children, young people and adults.

If you are seeking counselling for your child, and they are under 16, Clare will invite you in
for an initial meeting before she starts any work with your child. This is to ensure that your
perspective is fully considered and that you have an opportunity to meet her and ask any
questions.

Clare holds a Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and is a registered member of
the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
