Integrative Counsellor
Hello ! My name is Janine and I am passionately interested in people: who we are as human beings, how the experiences we’re having affect us, how we are feeling and how the stories we tell ourselves mold and shape us.
I welcome every body with an intention to meet you exactly where you are in your life’s journey and to honour every part of you. I aim to listen deeply to you with empathic understanding and compassionate curiosity as we explore together the experiences and feelings you might be grappling to make sense of.
Through being fully present and authentic with you, I hope to offer you a space where you have a felt sense of safety, warmth and care, because I believe the potential for true acceptance and paradoxical change occurs through the relationship we consciously create between us.
I trust implicitly in your own unique process and inherent wisdom to guide each session and work with the richness of what arises in the here and now, drawing from a number of different approaches, such as humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, somatic and parts work, to ensure each session is tailored to your individual and particular needs.
I work with a range of different issues from relationships and families, to grief work, embodiment, spirituality and existential questions relating to illness, dying, death, choice, loss, meaning and purpose, as well as trauma, anxiety and shame to name but a few.
I have a growing interest in experiential therapies and embodiment which has led me to begin trainings in Hakomi and IFS approaches, and I will bring these into the therapeutic space if they feel appropriate to you and the work we are doing.
For over 30 years my working background, in both the public and private sectors, has focussed on supporting people to make empowering changes in their lives and my additional training as a spiritual counsellor, homoeopath and yoga teacher continues to inform who I am, both as a person and counsellor. I am currently volunteering as a counsellor at St Elizabeth’s Hospice.
I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling as well as an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and am bound by their Code of Ethics.
